I just thought I’d help people who confuse NLP with hypnosis. Hypnosis is really an application of language, while neuro linguistic programming is a modeling process.

There are many different applications of NLP (neuro linguistic programming), and the most important element in NLP is modeling. If you’re new to NLP, then you will find it amazing that NLP could be useful to assist you in learning something new.

Skeptics to NLP have often attacked it from the idea that it stems from hypnosis. However, it’s often recorded that hypnotic states occur naturally, even from people watching a television show. Well, that goes to show that anyone can be hypnotized, and also that it’s not the fault of NLP practitioners!

NLP models many different skills outside of hypnosis (which seems sensational) including olympic skills, persuasion and learning. Many of these can be found in small, digestible chunks at this blog. The concept of modeling is not new, but NLP gives a proper system for one to learn far faster than using any other method.

Personally, I study NLP because it helps me get an idea about the way human psychology works in real life. Not to discount contemporary psychology, NLP is a powerful tool that taps on the pragmatic (language meaning being created in its social use) elements of linguistics.

I expounded on more of these new theories after I started learning about the nature of linguistics, and even did a thesis on the discourse of psychotherapy. More insights can be found here at http://www.WorldOfNLP.com.

If you want to learn about more applications of NLP, I cover many of them extensively at my website. I look forward to more comments, queries and participation here.
